The science is clear: With HIV, Undetectable equals Untransmittable (U=U).

In recent years, an overwhelming body of clinical evidence has firmly established the U=U concept as scientifically sound. It means that people living with HIV who achieve and maintain an undetectable viral load (the amount of HIV in the blood) – by taking and adhering to antiretroviral therapy (ART) as prescribed by an expert cannot sexually transmit virus to others says a report from National Institute of Health, (USA) dated January 10,2019.

This report helps in removing the sense of fear among serodiscordant couples (in which one partner is HIV negative) that no transmission of HIV occurred when partner living with HIV had a durably suppressed viral load. So most important part for success of U=U is to help patients remain in care and address the barriers to daily therapy.
